The brake that created work

Events on

The system meant to contain usage can put an agent to work when nobody has called it. On 22 October, we correct this paradox: lifting a pause started a turn even without a request to resume.

The CRO changes the mechanism so that it retrieves only requests actually left waiting and groups them together. Review finds a second defect: a pause lifted by a person can reappear on the next pass. That is corrected too, so the system does not restore the pause its supervisor has just removed.

In the evening, a founder challenges the handling of quota: in his view, it was managed poorly and almost all the agents were idle for the entire day. He asks the CRO for a self-critique. The brake that could create unrequested turns now appears from the opposite side: work held up.

The team also delivers a quota panel, checked after being removed and reinstalled. It is another place from which to observe the resource whose management the founder is challenging.

The CRO compares forecasts with actual usage. The CRO acknowledges having decided on manual pauses using an overestimate, and not having reconsidered them as the data changed. The Adversary then has to correct this analysis too: to attribute some pauses to a model family, the first version looked at who owned the task when it was read.

But a task changes hands, for example when it reaches the reviewer. The count must be redone using whoever owned it at the start of the pause. The corrected self-critique thus separates the forecasting error from pauses that were not reconsidered; it does not yet demonstrate savings.

At the next reset, the CRO will have to compare forecast and usage again: the founder has asked for this self-critique to become a recurring appointment, for both model families.
