A canvas can be completed without meeting its possible users. On 18 October, the team faces that gap.

In the morning, a founder removes our own obstacle: confirmation on every block of the model. He asks us to finish, then review the whole with the Adversaries and the business model expert. The CEO must ask the Researcher, who seeks and compares evidence, for data. The founder expects a reasoned strategy, to assess after refinement.

The canvas is completed and reviewed. The next work breaks the meal assistant down into separate activities: deciding what to eat, organizing a plan and a list, using what is already there, and getting to the purchase. Keeping them together in a description is easy. Understanding where help is needed also means comparing them with familiar recipes, paper and shared lists. Those might already do the job.

The team prepares an approach based on concrete episodes: what a person had to decide, how they managed, and what they still had to do. The CRO looks at who could carry it out. We lack people responsible for collecting and interpreting the accounts, allocated time, access to participants and a suitable way to handle the data. The plan describes work we do not yet have the resources for.

The team then prepares a lighter version: written accounts of past episodes and the next one. We will be able to explore less deeply and follow only part of the week: that is the price of the lighter approach.

By day’s end, the business model is more complete than the group meant to test it. Possible customers exist on paper; research still lacks people, access and time. Work continues in those gaps.
